Shawn and I went for dinner at Pixel 8, where I ordered from their "Ramen Lovers" menu:
Guys, meet my new favourite noodle soup: Ramen in a lobster broth base. I have wanted to try it since last summer, and I just don't know why it's taken me this long to have it. Now, it has to be said, the lobster taste isn't exactly strong, but there's something about this broth that is ridiculously addictive. It's rich but not thick, and flavourful but not too salty. I'm not sure how else to describe it, but this is that kind of broth that you want to drink every last drop. The ramen noodles — which I've decided is one of my favourites because it's not too thin or thick, with the perfect springy texture — definitely brings this dish up from good to stupendously awesome. Some people find the ramen there to be mediocre, but I totally love it. Moreover, I find that Pixel 8 gives a very healthy portion of noodles, more so than other ramen places I've been to. I got mine with deep fried oysters, which are gigantic and have the same batter as their tonkatsu. They were delicious, to say the least, but perhaps a little too filling. I was seriously waddling out of there. Either way, for $7.99, you just can't go wrong.
