Why I love autumn – featuring a very autumnal outfit

Autumn is here my loves! It's the day of the Autumn Equinox, and I for one am incredibly excited. Autumn for me signifies change, romance, and everything else in between. Autumn reminds me of starting a new school, getting new stationery, and most importantly a whole new autumn wardrobe! This outfit is probably the most autumnal outfit in existence.. am I right, or am I right?

Within this post I shall be talking you through why I LOVE autumn, and why I'm SO happy it's finally here! Oh, and I'll also be talking you through this stunning outfit.. because duh, it's the most amazing outfit in existence, and I cannot wait to wear it again!

When I was younger, my nan always obsessed over autumn. I never quite understood why. I always thought it was a dull season. It rained. It meant going back to school. It meant indoor P.E. sessions. It meant frizzy hair. And it meant having to take a coat to school (because it was so cold in the mornings, and my mum worried) but having to carry it around alllll day because it warmed up. But as I've grown up, I adore fall. Ever since around 2013, autumn has been my favourite time of year. For me it beats Christmas (although I bloody love Christmas, and I cannot wait until the tree goes up). Let me list a few reasons why I love autumn as much as I do....

The crisp air

Summers in the UK have been scorching in recent years, and us Brits just aren't used to the heat. Our houses aren't equipped, we don't have air con in our houses, and well, we've all grown up with summers where it's been tipping it down the majority of the time. So as you can imagine, when fall comes around, it's a DREAM to have the crisp air grace our streets once again. Having cool crisp air teamed with a gorgeous golden sunshine (which isn't too hot) is PERFECTION, it means we can layer up, it means we can turn the heating on, it means we don't have to worry about chub rub, and it means that we can start living normally again, instead of walking about the house in the bare minimum of clothing.

The gorgeous colours, nature, and crunchy leaves

When the leaves start to fall I'm one happy girl. I LOVE the nature. I've never been extremely outdoorsy, but in recent years this has grown and grown – I just love being in touch with nature. I love visiting scenic places, the beach, the park, the farm, forests, and woodlands. And when it's autumn, these places look even more beautiful! The colours of the leaves (more so in America unfortunately), the crunchiness of them as you step on them, the way they fall and float all around, and the way that they decorate every pavement we walk on. Nature is so much more beautiful throughout summer and fall.. for me these two seasons are everything, as the greenery, the orange hues, the yellow hues, the EVERYTHING!

Pumpkin spice lattes

Yes. I'm one of those girls, and in fact I was sipping my first PSL of the season in August! Yep, I'm crazy. I just adore Pumpkin Spice Lattes. I had my first ever PSL around three years ago, and I've been hooked ever since. I also like Pumpkin Pie, and will be making my second ever one this autumn (for Thanksgiving, because I reckon I'm half American lol).

Fall scented candles + fall decor

I adore candles anyway, but for some reason, richly scented spiced candles are definitely more up my alley. I LOVE a Pumpkin Spice candle, or a Pumpkin Patch candle, or even a Salted Caramel candle. My favourite brands for fall scented candles would have to be DW Home and Yankee Candle – both brands have some stunning autumnal fragrances, that I'm OBSESSED with. I also love autumn themed decor (I even have some tutorials on how to make a few of your own decorations coming soon) – maple leaves, pretty pumpkins, mustard hues, orange hues, green hues, and everything else in between.

Autumn baking

I love baking for fall. Sugar cookies, cakes, pumpkin muffins, banana loaves, ginger biscuits, cinnamon rolls, and pumpkin pie! It's no wonder I'm a chub, is it!? I have LOTS of recipes coming over the next couple of months, so stay tuned!

Cozying up with a good book

I LOVE nothing more than cozying up with a good book, hot mug of Horlicks, and a fall scented candle (with my cat of course), oh and under a knitted fall themed blanket (yet another blog post coming soon). I'm not one for clubbing, and I rarely go to the pub (the pub is SO much more my scene than a club.. I've heard the floors are uber sticky and that isn't me lol), so autumn really plays in my favour, as staying in is me!

And most importantly....

Autumn fashion... of course!

I adore autumn fashion. Give me a mustard bag any day, and I'm happy as larry. Plaid, polka dot, check, block colour, tartan, and anything else that makes me feel like a true fall lover.

Big thick, wooly scarves. Big warm coats. Cosy cardigans. Tights in a million and one different colours. Bags that look amazing next to your PSL. And a sassy red (or berry) lip.

I am OBSESSED with this outfit (if you hadn't already noticed). The Mustard Polka Dot Shirt Dress, is a dream – it is so comfy, yet looks super smart. The English Mustard Leather Briefcase Satchel by the Leather Satchel Company is my favourite bag at the moment – it's so chic, smart, and so perfect for autumn too! I adore the colour – it's so vibrant, yet teams so well with either bold or neutral tones. The Berry tights add another autumnal colour, while the Navy & Red Checkered Coat complete the outfit by adding a primary colour burst – this outfit is a dream, and I'm besotted with every aspect of it. The dress is from Monki, the satchel is from The Leather Satchel Company, the tights are from Primark, the coat is from Primark, and the velvet loafers are from Kurt Geiger.

This outfit makes me feel like an autumnal goddess. Well, more of a university student starting her second year, dressed head to toe in autumnal clothing. But either way, I'm chuffed with it, and like I said earlier, I really cannot wait until I wear it again.

Patterns are totally my thing. You might have thought that polka dots and check would NEVER go together, but this outfit just proves to you that you can wear whatever the hell you like! This stunning dress, teamed with the most amazing coat EVER looks HOT, and I love, love, love it!
